Who is Make-A-Wish® Indonesia?

Make-A-Wish® Indonesia (Yayasan Mimpi Anak Wangsa Indonesia) is a non-profit organization, established in 2024 as an affiliate of the world’s largest wish-granting organization, Make-A-Wish® International. Make-A-Wish® traces its inspiration to Chris Greicius, an energetic 7-year-old boy battling leukemia, whose wish to become a police officer was granted by his community in 1980. Little did Chris know that his wish would ignite a global movement that has since transformed millions of lives. Today, Make-A-Wish® International has granted hundreds of thousands of life-changing wishes to children battling critical illnesses in 50 countries and territories across six continents through its 40 affiliates. As the only wish-granting organization of its kind in Indonesia, Make-A-Wish® Indonesia is dedicated to making a profound impact on the wider community by fulfilling the wishes of children with critical illnesses. Our founders are committed to “sharing the power of a wish,” believing that these wishes bring families hope in dark times, the strength to persevere, and experiences that forever change their lives. Make-A-Wish® Indonesia promises to deliver joy and renewed strength to children with critical illnesses and their families when they need it most. We believe that wish experiences can restore the childhood stolen by a critical illness diagnosis and help improve both emotional and physical health.

How does Make-A-Wish® Indonesia maintain neutrality as part of a global organization?

Make-A-Wish® grants wishes to children living with critical illnesses regardless of their ethnicity, religion, background or social status, with a presence in nearly 50 countries around the world. Each Make-A-Wish® Affiliate or Licensed Territory operates locally, supported by a skilled and dedicated team that delivers wishes within their own communities. The growth of the international Make-A-Wish® network is driven by individuals and local organizations around the world who share a commitment to the vision of granting the wish of every eligible child. Make-A-Wish® Indonesia is focused on granting wishes for children living with critical illnesses across the country so they can experience the power of a wish-come-true. As part of the global Make-A-Wish® network, we remain strictly apolitical and dedicated solely to bringing hope, strength and joy to the children we serve.

MAWIRA (Relawan Make-A-Wish® Indonesia) is the official volunteer program of Make-A-Wish® Indonesia, designed to engage and empower dedicated individuals in delivering meaningful wish experiences for children with critical illnesses. Volunteers are actively involved in every phase of the Wish Granting process, from planning and coordination to execution and celebration, ensuring each wish is carried out with care, creativity, and impact. Is there a minimum amount for donation?

When donating through our website, a minimum donation of Rp50,000 applies. However, donations via direct bank transfer to our BCA account at 5395510107 (YAY MIMPI ANAK WANGSA INDONESIA) have no minimum amount.

What can a child wish for?

Wish requests fall into four major categories:  I wish to go…  Some children want to travel to their favorite theme park, while others want to visit an exotic beach, go on a cruise, or attend a major sporting event or concert.*  I wish to be…  Children search the depths of their imagination when they wish to be someone for a day – an author, a fireman, a police officer or even a superhero.  I wish to meet…  Some children want to meet their favorite athlete, artist, television personality, movie star, politician or other public figure.  I wish to have…  Wish children sometimes wish for a special gift such as a computer, a wheelchair, a shopping spree or something they have wanted for a long time.

Who is eligible for a wish?

A child aged 3 to 17 years old who: Is an Indonesian citizen currently residing or receiving treatment in the Jabodetabek area* Has not received a wish from another wish granting organization Is diagnosed with a critical illness**   *Please see “FAQ no. 5” for more information **Critical illness include, but are not restricted to, childhood cancers, certain types of muscular dystrophy, certain neurological or genetic diseases, cardiac disorder, renal failure and traumatic injuries.
